“A team comprises a group of people linked in a common purpose. Teams are especially appropriate for conducting tasks that are high in complexity and have many interdependent subtasks.

A group in itself does not necessarily constitute a team. Teams normally have members with complementary skills and generate synergy through a coordinated effort which allows each member to maximise his/her strengths and minimise his/her weaknesses. Team members need to learn how to help one another, help other team members realize their true potential, and create an environment that allows everyone to go beyond their limitations.”

Meet Our Mechanical Staff:

Steve Tyliakos

Steve Tyliakos comes from a long family history of working on boats. His grandfather and great grandfather built wood fishing boats in Greece’s southern Aegean Sea in the 1800 & 1900’s, and great uncles were the first shrimp boat builders in the USA in the Tarpon Springs area of Florida. Steve has spent many summers in the Aegean fishing and boating. In 1992 he decided to pursue a career in today’s modern pleasure craft boat industry and went to the British Columbia Institute of technology and served his apprenticeship with completion of a Journeyman license in Inboard/outboard repairs. Steve mostly spent the next 20 years servicing boats in and around the Vancouver area, with an exception of a 2 year contract in the Caribbean servicing a large fleet of dive & charter vessels. In 2005 Steve had decided to Service customers boats his way and Oceanos Marine Solutions was born. Steve currently owns and still works on customers’ boats with his fine assembled team of technicians. “It’s in his blood and he can’t imagine doing anything else”.

Scott Allan

Scott Allan comes from North Vancouver and in true West Coast fashion spent his summers boating from the Gulf Islands to Desolation Sound. His first job was working for the family boat sales and service company where he learned that hard work doesn’t always pay. Upon graduating from UBC Scott worked in orthopedic, pharmaceutical and chemical sales but never lost his desire to once again work in the marine industry. To make a career change he attended Capilano University’s Business Technology Accounting Program, which put him on the path to an exciting new opportunity with Oceanos Marine. Accounting and administrative duties within a marine environment is a great fit for Scott. Who says you can’t go home again?

Chad Day

Chad is originally from Vernon BC. He spent the summers boating on Okanagan and Kalamalka Lakes and the winters playing hockey in BC and Alberta. In 2002 he relocated to Jasper Alberta. He worked as a carpenter/contractor and spent his free time among the mountains – climbing, skiing and biking. In 2010 Chad found himself contracting for Maligne Lake Tours in Jasper National Park renovating the historic Brewster Chalets. Once the job was finished Chad stayed on with Maligne Lake Tours working in the tour boat maintenance department which rekindled his love of the water and boating. In 2015 Chad again relocated to North Vancouver putting his professional skills to work for the Oceanos team.

Meet Our Office & Admin Staff:

Michelle Tyliakos

After years as a Hairstylist I made a transition into attending NAIT in the Business Management Program. I didn’t realize how quickly my education would be put into practice when Oceanos Marine Solutions was born. I am proud of how the company has grown from an office in my basement to a loyal customer base and amazing staff. Because of the people I work with I now accomplish all of my work from home which has allowed me to also focus on raising my family with 3 children. Now I realize that managing an office is much like managing a home, and both ‘jobs’ teach me about the other. I believe that excellent customer care stems from a happy group of people who sincerely enjoy the environment they are surrounded in and are passionate about the work they do. I also believe that if one’s creative side is also nurtured that only great ideas will follow!
